2nd diversity conference held at CSU

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- Students at Columbus State
University and people throughout the community were all ears Friday when the
second diversity conference focusing on poverty in the region was held at CSU.

It is sponsored by the
mayor's commission on unity, diversity and prosperity and the Columbus Chamber of
Commerce.

Phenix City Mayor Eddie
Lowe was the keynote speaker, and explained why we need to keep issues like
these on the forefront.

Phenix City man dies when yard work turns deadly

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM)- An East Alabama family is mourning the death of a loved one after yard work went array.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. confirmed William Wilson of Phenix City died while "clearing land" at his home on 12th Avenue Wednesday morning.

Wilson was reportedly driving a tractor when it "fell off an embankment into a creek," Sumbry said.

Missing Phenix City man found

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM)- The Russell County Sheriff's Office has located man reported missing on Thursday. 

Millard George, 68, was last seen at 3982 Sandfort Road in Phenix City. He may be operating a 1991 White Ford Crown Vic with possibly an Alabama or Georgia tag.

Family members in another state are concerned because they have been unable to reach him. They say he has no recorded history of medical issues.

Authorities do not suspect foul play to be involved and say it appears he just decided to leave since he took all of his belongings.

Chick-fil-A in Phenix City to Host Easter Eggstravaganza

This Saturday, March 23, the Phenix City Chick-fil-A invites community members to its Easter “Eggstravaganza” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will feature Easter-themed games and crafts, face painting, two Easter egg hunts, an opportunity for children to have their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny, and a visit from the Chick-fil-A “Eat Mor Chikin®” Cow. 

The two Easter egg hunts will be at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for children ages 11 and under.

(WTVM)- Were your pets shaken during the stormy weather last night? Imagine how scary it must have been for the homeless pets at Columbus Animal Care and Control. In addition to today's animals, one cat and dog from last week's segments are in desperate need of your help.

TAG 172 is a calm and laid-back female domestic short haired cat. She has a very sweet temperament and will be a wonderful family pet.

TAG 392 is a curious female Domestic Short Haired cat. She is adventurous and playful, sure to be an excellent addition to your home.
