Wife of deployed Marine desperate to find husband’s stolen dog

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM)- A deployed Marine's dog is
missing in Phenix City and his wife is now looking for him.

The 7-month-old German
shepherd has been gone for exactly one week. Millions of pets are being stolen
nationwide, and our area is no exception.

The Phenix City resident
we spoke to Monday said she's noticed more than thirty ads on lost and stolen
dogs, especially German shepherds. Brittanie McCracken says she still remembers
the terrible fear she felt when she saw her stolen dog's collar on her front
yard.

McDonalds hiring 60 employees in Midland

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- The new Goodwill Career Center in Midland is working with McDonalds to hire 60 employees.

The two held a hiring event Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Available positions ranged from entry-level to managerial for McDonald's new location next to the Goodwill Career Center.

We spoke with the career services manager Emily Layton who says the Goodwill Career Center not only offers these job hiring opportunities they can also help you prepare for job interviews.

Tag 201 is an adult male lab mix with black hair. He's hoping his new
owners are ready for lots of playtime and exercise!  

Tag 358 is a gray adult male domestic shorthair cat who can't wait to
meet his new family.

Tag 315 is an adult female
German shepherd mix. They say German Shepherds are one of the smartest dog
breeds, so be smart and give this brainy beauty a home today! 

Phenix City, Columbus mayors visit youth basketball camp

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM)- Phenix City mayor Eddie Lowe and Columbus mayor Teresa Tomlinson showed off their basketball knowledge Thursday at the Saint Luke Ministry Center in Columbus.

The two were there for the first day of the 2nd annual Larry K Florence Youth Basketball Camp.

The three-day camp is designed for young people – both boys and girls – ages 5 to 17-years-old to teach them the fundamentals of basketball and the importance of teamwork and leadership.

Toyota recalls Prius, Lexus Hybrids for possible braking problems

(WTVM)- Toyota announced Tuesday night
it is recalling 242,000 hybrid vehicles worldwide.

They include certain Toyota
Prius cars built between March and October of 2009, and Lexus Hybrids built in
the same period.

Toyota says the affected
vehicles *could* have a braking problems but so far, there are no reported
crashes or injuries.

Concerned drivers should
contact their nearest Toyota dealer with any questions.

But a resident from Edmond Estates Apartments in Phenix City called us about living there without a working AC unit for a week.
