New river safety rules now in effect
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- Grab those life jackets:
the Fountain City is tightening rules for people who venture out on the Chattahoochee
River.
Starting this week, the
city is requiring life vests for anyone on the river between the North
Highlands Dam and the Columbus Trade Center.
The law affects both
people on boats and swimmers.
The changes are due in
part to the whitewater rafting course. Officials say they're worried people
will try to use it without flotation equipment.
