Phenix City Council Member Max Wilkes passes away | News
PHENIX CITY, AL - Mayor Sonny Coulter says that Phenix City Council Member Max Wilkes, 73, has passed away.
He died at St. Francis around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Wilkes and his wife, Melinda Wilkes, had gone to a sports banquet Wednesday night and when they returned home he began to feel bad.
They thought the cause was the food from dinner, but he kept getting worse.
His wife took him to the hospital and he was non communicative when they arrived.
The doctors did a CAT scan and found bleeding in his brain.
Wilkes was the representative for the city's north side District 1.
