Concert version of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" coming to Columbus Library

COLUMBUS, GA - Nashville’s famed musical/poetry duo The Bosch Institute will bring their acclaimed concert version of the classic poem “The Raven” to Columbus next week. The appearance is a part of the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries’ The Big Read celebration of the stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe.

The group will take the stage on Thursday October 20th at 7:00pm. The performance will take place in the Columbus Public Library auditorium, 3000 Macon Road in Midtown. Admission is free, and no tickets or advanced reservations are required.

PHENIX CITY, AL - Upward Basketball is doing something special for children of military families this Fall. Normally registration is $65.00 per child, which includes a complete uniform, all games, and a end of the year celebration.  This up and coming season any child whose parent or guardian is currently deployed can get a full scholarship to participant in the league.

Alabama woman celebrates her centennial birthday

EUFALA, AL - Pittsview resident Marie Duncan Forbes Coles celebrated her 100th birthday in Eufala yesterday. The party was attended by about 150 family and friends. Coles was born and raised in Kentucky but has lived in Pittsview since 1944. She has 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She stays active with a weekly game of bridge.
