Volunteers working to collect 15,400 gifts for needy kids this Christmas

PHENIX CITY, AL - While many Phenix City families are busy with holiday activities, a group of local volunteers is focused on filling empty shoe boxes with school supplies, toys, hygiene items and notes of encouragement for needy kids overseas. Phenix City families are participating in the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind—Operation Christmas Child—an effort that has hand-delivered 86 million gifts to kids worldwide since 1993.

From 4:00 - 6:00 pm, go trick-or-treating on the wetland tail, meeting wildlife who will tell you about their role in the environment; venture Beyond the Grave at the fossil exhibit inside the Natural History Center; come face to face with Swamp Thing at our alligator pond; or test your courage listening to ghost stories read by CSU’s Department of Theatre.
