Get Your Rear in Gear 5k funding colon cancer prevention

PHENIX CITY, AL - Around 100 runners and walkers are expected to attend the inaugural Get Your Rear in Gear®/Diva Dash 5K Run/Walk at Moon Lake in Phenix City on September 17. Runners, walkers, and volunteers will gather to raise awareness of the nation’s number two cancer killer, and raise funds for colon cancer prevention screening. The day will include opportunities for celebration of the survivors and support for caregivers and those who may have been left behind. Event begins at 9 am.

Funds raised at the Get Your Rear in Gear event will stay in the Phenix City-area community, helping with prevention, early detection and treatment, and healthy living projects for this disease.

Model A Ford Club driving through the Rivercities

COLUMBUS, GA - The Rivercities Model A Ford Club will celebrate the anniversary of International Model A Ford Club on Saturday, September 10th. Club members will tour the historic areas within Rivercities (Phenix City, Columbus and Ft. Benning GA.) Historic points of interest will include Infantry Center, Ft. Benning, the Uptown and Historic Districts, and the Wynton area and Lakebottom Park of Columbus.

Phenix City wants your input on the future

PHENIX CITY, AL - The Comprehensive Plan Update is underway for Phenix City. They are holding a brainstorming meeting today to see what kind of vision the community has for the area. Specific topics under discussion will be land use, community desing, housing, streets, and access and community facilities.
