Percy Sledge concert at Wednesday's Peanut Festival

DOTHAN, AL - Wednesday Nov. 9 is Special Citizen's Day at the National Peanut Festival, with gates opening at 8:00 am. The general public can get in when gates open at 4:00 pm.

Percy Sledge, the artist responsible for the hits "When a Man Loves a Woman" and "Take Time to Know Her," will be performing at 7:30 pm in the amphitheater on the grounds.

CSU co-sponsors lecture by Creek Indian scholar at Columbus Library

COLUMBUS, GA - A nationally known Creek Indian scholar will speak Thursday, Nov. 3 at the Columbus Public Library on The Power of Creek Oral Tradition, a lecture co-sponsored by Columbus State University’s Department of History and Geography.

Donald Fixico, Distinguished Foundation Professor of History and Affiliate Faculty of American Indian Studies at Arizona State University, is expected to discuss the Creek  tradition of dramatic storytelling in the free 6:30 p.m. talk also sponsored by the Chattahoochee Valley Regional Libraries, Muscogee County Friends of Libraries and the Chattahoochee Indian Heritage Association.

CSU Faculty Chamber concert Sunday

COLUMBUS, GA - Columbus State’s Schwob School of Music presents a Faculty Chamber Series concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall. The program features Martinu's Sextet for Piano and Winds and Beethoven's Clarinet Trio Op. 11 in B-flat Major. Performers include faculty artists Andrée Martin, flute; Lisa Oberlander, clarinet; Susan Tomkiewicz, oboe; Ron Wirt, bassoon; Wendy Warner, cello; and Yien Wang, piano. Admission is free.

COLUMBUS, GA - Columbus State’s Schwob School of Music presents a cello recital by Bongshin Ko, associate professor at California State University-Fullerton, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24 in RiverCenter’s Legacy Hall.

Concert version of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" coming to Columbus Library

COLUMBUS, GA - Nashville’s famed musical/poetry duo The Bosch Institute will bring their acclaimed concert version of the classic poem “The Raven” to Columbus next week. The appearance is a part of the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries’ The Big Read celebration of the stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe.

The group will take the stage on Thursday October 20th at 7:00pm. The performance will take place in the Columbus Public Library auditorium, 3000 Macon Road in Midtown. Admission is free, and no tickets or advanced reservations are required.
